We have entered into a technical partnership with Synsopole.
Mizutani Paint Co., Ltd. has entered into a technical partnership agreement with Synthopol GmbH of Germany for nanocomposite emulsion resin technology.
Synthopol highly values the technology behind the water-based resin “Nanocomposite Emulsion” used in Mizutani Paint’s wall coating “Nanocomposite W,” leading to the decision to license this technology from our company to Synthopol. In August, President Shigehiko Mizutani visited Synthopol and signed the agreement with President Henning Zimmer.
Mizutani Paint is actively pursuing overseas expansion. This April, it exhibited “Nano Composite W” for the first time at the “European Coatings Show 2011” held in Nuremberg, Germany. Given the stringent chemical regulations in the EU region, such as REACH, exporting paints and resins is challenging. Therefore, we plan to license the technology to Synspol and jointly develop the market in this region.
Currently, we are conducting joint trial production experiments using raw materials in Europe. Regular evaluation meetings are held, and prototyping is nearing its final stage. As the next step, Synsopole plans to expand sales targeting paint manufacturers across all of Europe, while our company will support Synsopole’s technical sales efforts.
Synsopole is a mid-sized resin manufacturer founded in 1957, located in Buchstede near Hamburg. It employs many PhD researchers and is a highly technology-oriented company. Both our company and Synspol are owner-managed enterprises with a strong technical focus, and our family-like corporate cultures align well, leading to a natural partnership and technical collaboration. Furthermore, the “Nano Composite W,” jointly developed with Kyoto Institute of Technology since 1996, holds the first industry-academia-government joint patent in the paint sector. It has received the Inoue Harunari Award, one of Japan’s three major technology prizes, and is highly regarded in Japan with significant sales achievements.
Our company is expanding its overseas business through a strategy of introducing its proprietary resin synthesis technology to global paint manufacturers in the form of resin exports and technical partnerships. Moving forward, we plan to continue developing unique products centered on environmental themes and expand our network of partnerships with paint and resin manufacturers in numerous countries.
